About me
About me
I am a Yoga Teacher and Somatic Movement Educator based in my small studio in Tonbridge, Kent. I have practiced yoga since 1984, throughout my parenting years, a career in sports massage and exercise therapy and latterly while working as a midwife.
My life-long curiosity of how the human body functions and moves, has led me to continued learning with some highly experienced teachers in a multitude of disciplines. With over 20 years experience in teaching exercise and yoga, I am currently, nearing completion of a 500hr Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Embodied Yoga
As my teacher Lisa Petersen clearly explains:
“The physical body is the vehicle that carries us through life and is the form through which we experience life. Becoming more embodied can help us feel clarity, peace, presence, joy, vitality, aliveness, connectedness as well as the more obvious rewards like feeling more at ease in our bodies, experiencing less tension, pain etc. By learning how to read the subtle (and not so subtle) signs of our bodies, we can make more skilful choices and decisions about how to live our lives”
With an emphasis on safety, I invite students to self-explore using practical Yoga and Somatic whole body movements applicable to daily life.
What you can expect is:
to notice how your body works and moves, to learn how to deal with what you notice, to find strength, flexibility, grace and stillness, to cultivate easeful breath, to make the unconscious conscious, to relax and to generally BE more and DO less.
I am deeply grateful to all the highly experienced yoga and movement teachers I have had the fortune to train with:
Lisa Petersen, Christine Howitt, Simon Low, Eija Tervonen, Donna Farhi, Julie Gudmestad. Judith Lasater, Doug Keller, Charlotte Watts.
